Yay! Samsung's new Galaxy S8 come with state of the art facial recognition, we're safe now-- oh wait-- It can be fooled by a picture.

With the Samsung Galaxy S8, which launches April 28, coming with a new facial recognition feature that lets you unlock the phone just by looking into the front-facing camera, there was a lot of excitement as this was a much shorter verification method than the fingerprint scanner and also just as safe.

But unfortunately, it's not exactly secure as iDeviceHelp discovered this week.

In a demo, which we first saw on The Verge, iDeviceHelp was able to fool the facial recognition feature with a photo. It took a little longer than normal for the S8 to register the photo, but it worked.

While Samsung have admitted that the fingerprint scanner is a more secure verification method than the Facial recognition, one wouldn't expect that the phone would be fooled that easily.

So with this in mind, it is in your best interest not to use the facial recognition feature as it is flawed. You're better of with the Iris scanner, or Fingerprint, or even with a PIN.

You can check out the video of iDeviceHelp tricking the Galaxy S8 with a photo below:

After a mishap like what happened with the Samsung Galaxy Note 7, it's only natural that some caution would be taken going forward and that seems to be the case with Samsung and the S8 phone.

When Samsung announced what happened with the Note 7, they asserted that the issue really was with the battery  and the explosions came from complications with the battery.

What that has done is that according to reports, the Samsung S8 will come with a smaller battery which means it won't last as long as people might have wanted.

This comes via Korean site The Investor and they claim that the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus will have smaller batteries than initially expected.

According to the news source, the Galaxy S8 will pack a 3,000 mAh battery, while the phablet version will have a 3,500 mAh battery. This in comparison to last year's Galaxy S7 (3,000 mAh) and Galaxy S7 edge (3,600 mAh) shows just how much Samsung is playing it safe (the note 7's capacity was 3,500mAh).

According to News 1, a Samsung official was credited as saying, “After completing a range of tests, Samsung made a final decision to deploy the battery capacity for the two S8 variants,”

The idea of a smaller battery makes sense as it would be better for Samsung to play it safe. They have already changed their battery supplier to Japanese company Murata.

Brand new from Motorola is the Moto Z play and here'a a review of the phone.Looking at it you may easily mistake it for the earlier versions Z and Z force...yes they look so much alike but have some different features.

The Moto Z play is thin, stylish and affordable unlike the other models this is the most affordable going for ($449.99),what also makes it different from the Z and Z force is the 3.5mm headphone jack which was missing from the Z and Z force and also a longer lasting battery. All Moto Mods from the stylish battery packs, mini boom box,and projector still works on the Moto Z play, there is also a new Mod called "the Hasselblad True Zoom camera that makes your Android phone look and feel like a real camera with 10x zoom and physical controls.

Lets see what this phone really looks like in the review video down below:

Officially Blackberry  Hub+ is now available on google play store for download. On Wednesday Blackberry announced that it's Blackberry Hub+ App Which was available only for Blackberry 10 - PRIV and DTECK50 would now be accessible to over 1 billion android smartphone users.isn't that awesome?!

BlackBerry Hub+ is the first pure software offering from the new Mobility Solutions Group. The BlackBerry Hub is a one-stop destination that provides a look at all of your notifications, including those from email, social networks, calendars and more. It’s one of my favorite features on the BlackBerry Priv, since it lets me look at everything in one long list of notifications. Some might find that a little overwhelming, though, so it’s certainly not for everyone. The BlackBerry Hub+ suite also includes BlackBerry Calendar, Password Keeper, Contacts, Tasks, Device Search, Notes and Launcher. Those are all pretty good, but there are also plenty of alternatives on the market.

However, starting today, you can make a dent in your overstuffed social and e-mail accounts by downloading a trial version of Hub+ for free from Google Play. Note: the BlackBerry Hub+ applications are available only for devices running Android 6.0 Marshmallow which meet certain performance criteria. After 30 days, users can continue using the apps for free by opting to view occasional ads, or subscribe to the entire suite of apps for just 99 cents a month, which will include additional powerful time-saving features.

Users running on Android 5.0 lollipop and IOS are not left out cause Bleckberry promises to bring the experience to those devices soon, also promising to bring more blackberry experiences too.

With new innovations coming about everyday, Lenovo has joined in, unveiling a new smartphone filled with sensors that enable it to scan and map the world around it in real time.
The PHAB2 Pro as it is called is powered by technology known as Project Tango, developed by Google and that uses the camera and a set of sensors built into the phone to scan the space around it and build a 3D map of the surroundings.
The smartphone was announced at Lenovo's Tech World conference in San Francisco where the Chinese firm suggested that Project Tango could be as pivotal as GPS and improve indoor mapping as well as power new augmented and virtual reality experiences.
A senior official at Lenovo, said: "Put simply, we wanted to take what was an amazing concept and transform it into a commercially viable mobile device.
"From the moment we saw Tango, we knew it could become pervasive, just like GPS. However, to truly make the PHAB2 Pro a game-changer, we developed it at an affordable price for mainstream consumers, delivering not just a bleeding-edge phone, but an all-around fantastic phone that's first to market."
The PHAB2 Pro uses motion tracking, depth perception and area learning to map environments and sense its own location within them. In total there are four cameras built into the device.
The phone will hit the shelves in the US first in September for $499 (£344)

Remember Captain Planet? Or Voltron? What made them so cool was the combination of stuff it took to create them.
For Voltron it was 5 Lions for  Captain Planet it was 5 elements.
So too it seems is the new Android phone that could be coming soon.
If the renders are true that is. OnePlus 3 is early on looking like it's the real deal and is set for release next week on June 14th.
Earlier, OnePlus announced the phone’s release date without actually revealing any details about the device itself, but leaks appear to have painted a fairly complete picture at this point… and if that picture even comes close to representing reality, OnePlus will likely have managed to build the coolest Android phone the world has ever seen.
Rumors indicate that the OnePlus 3 phone will be a powerhouse. Specs supposedly include a 5.5-inch AMOLED full HD display, a Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, a 16-megapixel rear camera, an 8-megapixel front camera, a 3,000 mAh battery and OnePlus’s custom version of Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.
Somehow, it appears as though all that tech will be packed into a phone that looks impossible sleek and slim.
Earlier this week we saw a leak emerge that showed what was believed to be a OnePlus 3 powered on for the first time. Now, a new leak from a third-party clear case manufacturer appears to give us an even clearer view of the new phone’s design.
The renders were posted on Weibo (via Android Headlines) by a reliable source, below are pictures of the device. This could very well be the coolest phone this year knocking the stuffing out of the S7.

Well, that's not something you see everyday. A popular developer, Nick Lee who has become somewhat of a mad scientist in the world of tech by putting weird and wacky operating systems on Apple gadgets, including Windows 95 on an Apple Watch has now gone further and place a full-fledged version of Android on the iPhone.
Cool eh? you do need a special, 3D-printed smartphone case to make it work though.
What Lee did was to clone the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) and then make a custom version of Android Marshmallow he could run on a board he bought himself. He proceeded to then get a 3D printed iPhone-sized enclosure he found on Thingiverse, and combined the board, a battery, a boost converter, and resistor to make a lightweight case.

His first prototype was to put it mildly, sorta fat, But then, after a bit of a makeover which involved slimming down the design, Lee was able to craft an enclosure not too much larger than your standard smartphone battery case.
He also threw in a bunch of other stuff including openings for HDMI and USB ports, as well as a SD card slot.
From his video, Lee appears to boot Android by way of a custom Tendigi app on the iPhone's home screen. Tendigi, where Lee works as CTO, is a mobile design and development studio in Brooklyn, and Lee uses its iOS app to communicate with the case and load his custom version of Android on an iPhone 6S's display.
This took days to complete and it's certainly not something that'll be used in the mainstream, but it is fascinating to see the creativity of it all.

Reputable tipster Evan Blass has reported that the Note 7 unveiling is “almost exactly two months away.”

To give the leak some credibility, Last year, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Note 5 on August 13. Going by that, two months from June 2 would point to an August 2 launch for the Galaxy Note 7.

With that in mind, then maybe the leak is true as a first week of August release will make sense. Also, the move will see them launch before the much anticipated iPhone 7.

Also, the new leak would mean that Blass’ previous report claiming that the new Galaxy phablet will go on sale in the United States on August 15 would make even more sense.

Samsung is skipping one generation to name its next-gen phablet Galaxy Note 7 to bring the model number in line with the Galaxy S series. Samsung launched Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge earlier this year. Naming its upcoming phablet Note 6 would give out a perception that it’s an older model.

The Galaxy Note 7 is rumored to feature a 5.8-inch AMOLED display, 6GB RAM, Qualcomm Snapdragon 823 processor, and microSD support. The RAM will be based on 10nm process technology, improving its battery efficiency. It is also said to be dustproof and waterproof. The phone will have a huge 4,000mAh battery, 32GB of built-in storage, and a 12-megapixel main camera with Dual Pixel setup.
One of the biggest anticipated features of the Galaxy Note 7 is the iris scanner. Samsung recently filed trademark applications for “Samsung Iris” and “Samsung EyePrint” in Europe.
The phablet could also boast a dual-lens camera.
So we're just going to sit here and salivate.

With the launch of the Redmi Note 33 done and dusted, Xiaomi seems to be working on another Redmi series smartphone with a massive 4000 mAh battery.
Rumours indicate that the phone could be called the Xiaomi Redmi 3A. It was spotted on the website of Chinese certification agency, TENAA.
According to the listing, the Xiaomi Redmi 3A has a 5-inch HD (720 x 1280 pixels) display, 1.4 GHz Snapdragon 435 octa-core processor and Adreno 505 GPU.
It has 2GB RAM, 16GB of internal storage and expected to have an expandable storage slot. It will come with a 13 megapixel rear camera with LED flash, a 5 megapixel front facing camera and a 4,000 mAh battery. Xiaomi Redmi 3A comes with a fingerprint sensor on the back.
The phone purportedly runs on an Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system and the images reveal that it comes in Gold and Silver colours. Connectivity options of the device include dual SIM, 4G-LTE with VoLTE, Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS/A-GPS and a micro USB 2.0 port.
The Xiaomi Redmi 3A is rumored to be priced around $91.

Virtual Reality (VR) is going to be the new reality and is the next big thing for smartphones now.
This week, Samsung already made a move, demonstrating a new smartphone display designed specifically for VR and likely headed to a future Samsung smartphone. According to a report from UploadVR, the 5.5-inch panel packs 3840 x 2160 pixel resolution, making it a 4K class screen. It has a staggering 806PPI, 350 nit brightness level, and can reproduce 97 percent of the color gamut.
Samsung isn't the first display maker to pack 4K resolution into a phone-sized screen — Sony before them had the Z5 Premium last year with such a panel.
UploadVR also reported that Samsung was also demonstrating a new display tech called "Bio Blue" . The technology reportedly emits less blue light than Samsung's own AMOLED screens making it better.
The 4K display is still being called a prototype, but it won't be surprising to find it crop up on one of the more pricey and sophisticated Samsung phones very soon.

Acer has never really done much with the USA paying more attention usually to the international market. But it seems that's all about to change.
Acer will be launching the Liquid Zest Plus in July in the USA.
The Zest (Not lemon or Orange) is an unlocked LTE smartphone with Android 6.0, a 5.5-inch 720p display, and a whopping 5,000mAh battery.

The Liquid Zest Plus is meant to be more of a middle class phone with a MediaTek MT6735 quad-core Cortex-A53 processor, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage. It has a rear-facing 13MP camera that Acer says uses a "tri-focus" system for faster captures.
There's a mono speaker on the back, but the Liquid Zest Plus apparently has "DTS-HD Premium Sound."
The Biggest plus for the Liquid Zest plus though is the humongous battery. It's so big, Acer claim it can be used for three days on one charge!
So, if you're looking to pick up a phone on a budget that has a battery that lasts forever then the Zest plus is for you.
It will retail at $199 when it launches in July. The international price for Europe, the Middle East, and Asia will be €199, and it should be out around the same time.
